First off, it's important to understand that if an original creditor has assigned or sold your debt to a collection agency then it can no longer deal with you, and it will most likely have already deducted your bad debt from its gross income when figuring its taxable income.

Second off, and before we do anything else we need to be clear about what is meant by the term, Collection Agency, and it is basically one of three things:

1) A company that has been assigned a debt, for collection.

2) A company that has purchased a debt, for collection.

3) A lawyer who has been hired to collect a debt.

And the third most important think to be clear about, is which kind of debts can you settle and they are things like:

a) medical bills,

b) credit cards,

c) personal loans,

d) department store cards,

e) student loans,

f) bounced checks.

The reason that all the above are good candidates for debt settlement, is that they are all unsecured debts, but don't expect to settle a mortgage or an auto loan, because the lender can repossess them, and therefore doesn't need to come to any kind of arrangement with you.

Assuming that the person that contacted you is a debt collector, that he or she represents a Collection Agency, and that the debt is an unsecured one, we will now look at two more things that must be verified before you even think of settling the debt.

You must first validate the debt, which in essence means that you make sure that the company or person requesting payment, has been authorized to collect the debt, and is who they say they are, and there are many articles on the web explaining how to do this.

The second must do thing, is to check is whether or not the debt is within or outside of the statute of limitations, and if the debt is outside of the statute of limitations then tell the collector that you know that it is, and demand that he stop harassing you.

Don't Be Confused

Just because a debt has been removed from your credit report, doesn't mean that you don't owe the money, and there is often some confusion about this.

In almost every case, a bad debt and all related comments must by law be removed from your credit report after seven years, and if it's still there then contact the credit agency and they will remove it.

This law applies to credit agencies though, and should not be confused with the statute of limitations on debts, so be sure to check the laws for your state very carefully.

Some Important Dos And Don'ts

1) Try to handle all correspondence by mail so there's a paper trail, and use registered mail, receipt requested, and make sure you keep a copy.

2) If you do have to speak on the phone, then make a note of the date and time, the person that you spoke to, and what was discussed.

3) Always believe that the agency will accept less than they say they will.

4) Stay calm and remind yourself that the collection agency wants to strike a deal and that time is on your side, and never forget that the more time that passes, the less you'll have to pay.

5) Never ever say that you need to settle the debt.

6) Never accept their first or even second offers.

7) If they really press hard, then threaten them with bankruptcy, and if they believe you, then they'll always settle quickly, and for less.

8) A debt collection agency can sue you, but it's a long process, costs money and it's the last thing that that the agency wants to do, so don't panic.

So How Much Should You Offer?

The agency most likely paid between five and seven cents on the dollar if the debt is a recent one, and as little two cents if the debt is an old one, and if it's very old, and we're talking several years, then the debt might have been bought for as little as one cent on the dollar.

To keep the math simple, let's say that the debt is $2,000 and it's a recent one, then the agency probably paid around 120 dollars (6%) for it, and if it's very old then as little as twenty dollars, so I would suggest offering them 20% of the original amount if it's a recent debt, which would be 400 dollars, and expect them to settle for around 500 dollars and offer them 250 dollars (10-15%) if it's an old debt.

If you're contacted by a second debt collection agency, then be sure that they have the right to collect the debt, and if they do then you can pretty safely assume that they paid even less for the debt than the first agency, so offer them even less.

Be Very Wary Of Penalties And Padding

It's very common for debt collection agencies to add on huge amounts of interest based on the original debt, and that's called usury, and it's illegal in every state, so remember that the agency bought the debt for a few cents on the dollar, and that's what they can charge you interest on.

YouTube receives many more views per day than every TV network and cable channel combined. The interesting thing about these new age celebrities is that they make their way into the entertainment stratosphere without the assistance of agents, managers or entertainment attorneys. They are regular people with a passion or talent that others enjoy watching from the comfort of their computer screen or digital mobile device.

These specific celebrities are not the "one-hit wonders" or subjects of viral videos that catch on, ala, "Charlie Bit Me". This group of entertainers create their videos with the idea of entertaining the masses, and the masses seem to truly enjoy finding their favorites and loyally following their exploits.

A father-son tandem, known as "CurtisTheSpazGamer" and son, has recently begun taking the Internet by storm with their series of video game "commentary videos". These are videos that feature gameplay captured from popular console units, such as xBox or Playstation or from the creators' computers. They overlay their gameplay with commentary that ranges from the fascinating and informative to the ridiculous and sometimes disturbing.

Curtis and Son fall somewhere nicely in the middle of these parameters, hosing a YouTube channel that "highlights" Curtis' very limited gaming abilities. "My kid and I love playing video games, " Curtis recently explained. "We saw (Call of Duty) 'Black Ops' commentary videos online and enjoyed them. These videos were by gamers with crazy skills, demonstrating their prowess. It occurred to me that it might be fun to make commentary videos by someone who sucks, and I just happened to fit that description. My son and I broke out the cameras and started having a blast posting videos of me stinking the joint up, while he made fun of me... Basically what we do pretty much every day anyway."

The pair found success rather quickly, their videos gaining an ever-growing legion of loyal fans. "It's (the fan base) mostly kids from around 14 to 25 or so," Curtis explained. "That's perfect, as my son is nearing that age group and mentally I never left it."

The duo recently was rewarded for their efforts by having their YouTube Channel partnered with "Machinima", the wildly successful entertainment channel that posts videos created by users all over the world. Curtis and Son create their videos for the "Respawn" arm of Machinima; the branch that displays action gaming content.

"The whole thing has been a ridiculous amount of fun," Curtis exults. "When we started this, we didn't even know about Machinima, but they are a really great group! The people who watch our videos are a ton of fun, as well. My son (Braxton) and I have a blast answering comments made on our videos, and hanging out with everybody at our forum, playing together online and on our Facebook page."

When asked about his son being exposed to the violence in games such as "Black Ops", Curtis acknowledges it is something he's been asked many times before. "Every kid is different," he explained, "but if a parent is truly involved, they understand what a child is able to handle. My son completely understands the difference between video game or cartoon violence and the reality of actually hurting someone. When I was a kid, we played war all the time. We shot each other up with glee, but none of us considered ever doing it in real life. This is the same thing; just with better graphics."

Together, the duo truly seems to immensely enjoy one another's company. Their videos feature dad's truly poor gameplay, as he struggles to get better, while son snickers and bates him. At one point, dad tries to strike back by insinuating that son is a huge Justin Bieber fan. With great aplomb, son responds, "Keep it up and I'll tell mom what I caught you looking at on the Internet last night." A totally stunned dad responds, "Okay, truce."

Curtis and Son's YouTube channel is loaded with, not only videos, but reams of pretty funny give and take with the subscribers to their channel. Curtis' honest and constantly fun demeanor seems to have caught on with a legion of followers. His interaction with the mostly young subscribers is both fatherly and friend-like in its delightful simplicity.

Curtis is nearing 50 years old, and when asked how long he intends to keep making these videos, he replies, "As long as anybody still enjoys watching them. We are having a great time together and with the friends and subscribers who make up our community. Why would we ever stop?"

When asked what will happen when Braxton grows up, Curtis is thoughtful for a moment, then, with a noticeable touch of emotion, he offers, "Hopefully he'll never get tired of spending at least a little bit of time playing with the old man... Otherwise, it will be kind of a sad scene while I sit here, playing these games really badly with an empty chair next to me."

Watching their relationship on camera, it's hard to imagine that would ever happen. Curtis The Spaz Gamer may be on the air longer than "The Simpsons".

Breaking out of his melancholy thoughts of an empty chair future, Curtis brightens with, "I've gotta keep playing for awhile, though, regardless. - My goal is to one day play a positive K/D (Kill/Death ratio in the game; player kills others more times than is killed himself). I'm 50 now and average life expectancy is about 77... I'm thinking I might have an outside shot of pulling that off some time in the next 27 years."

Different Types of Double Glazing

The type of double glazing which is most suitable will depend on whether it is being installed for heat or noise and on the type of window being double glazed.

There are two main types: sealed units and secondary glazing.

Sealed units
A sealed unit replaces the existing pane of glass. It consists of two sheets of glass permanently sealed together around the edges with an air gap between them. The thickness of the air gap is between 6mm and 12mm, which means that sealed units are not the best choice for noise insulation. The thickness of the panes of glass varies, too usually from 3mm up to 10mm. Scaled units are available with one of the panes made from patterned or wired glass or with solar control or toughened glass. They can be bought from glass merchants or from the manufacturers.

Because they replace the existing pane, sealed units are suitable for all types of windows. They are sold in standard sizes; non-standard sizes can be made to measure - take the dimensions very accurately.

There are two main shapes of sealed unit: spaced units where the two panes of glass are the same size and stepped units where the inner pane is smaller than the outer one. A stepped unit is used where there is insufficient width in the rebate to take the thickness of a spaced unit.

The two big advantages of sealed units are that they do not suffer from condensation between the panes and that they are inconspicuous. Sealed units are used in double-glazed replacement windows.

Secondary glazing
This uses the existing window as the outer pane.

The simplest form of secondary window is plastic film, similar to the film used to wrap food, stretched across the window and stuck in position with double-sided adhesive tape. This method is not really suitable for metal-framed windows as the air gap would be too small. Plastic film can be unsightly and can be easily damaged, but it is cheap, easy to fit and good for preventing condensation. It normally has to be replaced every year.

The most common type of do-it-yourself double glazing uses plain fixed sheets of glass or plastic. The method for holding the glass or plastic pane to the window varies: some plastic sheets are fixed with magnetic strips or touch-and-close fasteners; others have a one-part or two-part plastic frame fitted around the pane which is then stuck, screwed or clipped to the window frame.

This type is not always suitable for metal windows and is difficult to use on sliding sash windows unless applied to the inside of one sash and the outside of the other (or to the window frame itself). If fitted to the window frame, plain fixed panes prevent the window being opened. Removing the panes in summer can be very easy (magnetic strip and touch-and-close fasteners) or more tiresome (clips and screws).

With sliding panels, a track with two channels is fitted round the reveal and the glass or plastic is held in a PVC or aluminium frame. Because the track can be some way from the existing window, this type is a good choice for noise insulation and is suitable for all types of windows - there are vertical sliding versions for sliding sash windows. Sliding types are fairly expensive and can be complicated to fit but are easy to use.

The other main type is fixed or hinged panels. With these, the glass is mounted in a rigid frame of aluminium or plastic with a seal which is fitted to the outer wooden frame of the window. On non-opening windows, the panels are fixed-with clips or slotted channel. On opening casements, the panels are hinged along one side with clips on the other (small panels can be fitted for top-opening casements). If wanted for noise insulation, the panels can be mounted on a sub-frame mounted in the window reveal away from the existing window. This type of double glazing is fairly noticeable but is fairly easy to fit. It is more expensive than plain fixed sheets but cheaper than sliding panels and it is the type that most professional installers fit.

Differences Between Female Writers and Male Writers in the 1700's

The writing of men and women in American literature vary in many different ways. The reason for these differences is pretty easy to explain. The major reason behind the difference in writing styles, writing mediums, and overall subject matter in lies in the different experiences that men and women were facing throughout the 18th and early 19th century.

While men were out on conquest conquering and desecrating a new world, women were moving to a new land, creating a new life, and were expected to maintain that life for themselves, as well as their families. In the case of the differences between female and male writers of early American history, the main differences in writing style/writing medium as well as overall subject matter, comes from individual stereotypical gender expectations.

The first major difference that can be seen when reading male literature of this period, over female literature comes in the writing styles that are chosen. For most men during this time period the proper way to write was often a very flowery and ornate as in seen in the writing style of Thomas Morton, the style of a Cavalier. These types of writers wrote under the authority of the king and typically sounded very proper and were known for using prose. This is seen in Chapter IV from book one of The English Cannon, "They use not to winter and summer in one place, for that would be a reason to make fuell scarse; but, after the manner of the gentry of Civilized Natives remove for their pleassures..." (296, Heath Anthology)

In most female writing, however, the writing was less prose and a lot more poetry, as is seen in the writing style of Anne Bradstreet. Bradstreet wrote in a style completely opposite of Morton called Puritan Plain Style. This particular style was not ornate as Cavalier was. It involved the absence of flowery writing and instead was more straightforward. Bradstreet especially got away from the practice of prose and instead included poetic diction as is seen in her poem, "The Author to her Book." Thou ill-formed offspring of my feeble brain, Who after birth didst by my side remain, Till snatched from thence by friends, less wise than true, Who thee abroad, exposed to public view... In the first four lines of the poem the reader can see the presentation of rhyme, whereas Morton has none, thus bringing home the true differences in writing styles. The reason for this difference has a lot to do with a woman's overall independence when writing. Where a man was forced to maintain a certain level of respectability, according to the social writing of the time, a woman was given less structure concerns and more ability to step out and into different stylistic capabilities without fear of retribution, mainly because her writing, unlike a man's writing, would never have been considered for publication to begin with.

The biggest difference between male and female writers of this time period lies in the subject matter for which they wrote. Male writers, as was mentioned before, came to America with a different mission than that of female writers. The male writers typically were interested in the exploration and commercial aspects of this new found territory as is seen in every male writer covered thus far in this course. For instance, all of the male Spanish writers from lvar Nez Cabeza de Vaca to Adriaen van der Donck either wrote about descriptions of the new land, the Natives peoples who populated it, or the potential that the land itself processed.

This can easily be seen in Vaca's book Relation of Alvar Nez Cabeza de Vaca, "The country where we came on shore to this town and region of Appalachian, is for the most part level, the ground of sand and stiff earth (142, Heath Anthology)." Obviously this is a description of the land that they have arrived on. As the book carries on we also see the description of the Native people's shows, "From the island of Malhado to this land, all the Indians whom we saw have the custom from the time in which their wives find themselves pregnant, of not sleeping with them until two years after they have given birth (147, Heath Anthology)." Women on the other hand showed a different interest upon entering this new world.

Instead of writing about the explorative nature of traveling to the New World, they focused on the actual aspect of survival. Mary Rowlandson's works are a prime example of this as is seen in her famous narrative, Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs Mary Rowlandson. In this narrative Rowlandson talks about her experiences being a captive to a Native American tribe. As I was sitting once in the wigwam here, Philip's maid came in with the child in her arms, and asked me to give her a piece of my apron, to make a flap for it. I told her I would not. Then my mistress bade me give it, but still I said no. The maid told me if I would not give her a piece, she would tear a piece off it. I told her I would tear her coat then. With that my mistress rises up, and take up a stick big enough to have killed me, and struck at me with it. But I stepped out, and she struck the stick into the mat of the wigwam. But while she was pulling of it out I ran to the maid and gave her all my apron, and so that storm went over (446, Heath Anthology).

This type of writing shows how personal female writers were over male writers. Whereas men focused on only the aspect of exploration, women focused on the concept of living in this new and sometimes hospitable world. Rowlandson shows the dangerous aspect of a woman's life in the America's but this was not the only view that women had. This is seen in Sarah Kemble Knights writings, which focus on the more homeward bound aspect of the female colonist life. It appears that the main differences between male and female writers all come from the same general reason. That reasoning, although stereotypical, was predominant in its time. Men and women had different places, where the man was in charge of colonization, the woman was in charge of the home environment and that environments survival. Because of this, the writings of men and women of the time differed.

Where men wrote of their colonization and, perhaps, destructive process, women wrote about the plight they were handed. They wrote of their pain, they wrote of their time spent in captivity, and in the home, they basically wrote about what they knew, just as men wrote about what they knew. In the case of the difference between male and female writers of the early colonization period of America, it is obvious to see that men and women wrote differently because of the hand they were dealt in the card game of life.

A great article from Forbes points out some amazing benefits of actually having frequent sex, and enjoying it!

Improved sense of smell: After sex, production of the hormone prolactin surges. This in turn causes stem cells in the brain to develop new neurons in the brain's olfactory bulb, its smell center.
Reduced risk of heart disease: In a 2001 study, researchers found that by having sex three or more times a week, men reduced their risk of heart attack or stroke by half.
Weight loss, overall fitness: Sex, if nothing else, is exercise. A vigorous bout burns some 200 calories--about the same as running 15 minutes on a treadmill or playing a spirited game of squash. The pulse rate, in a person aroused, rises from about 70 beats per minute to 150, the same as that of an athlete putting forth maximum effort. British researchers have determined that the equivalent of six Big Macs can be worked off by having sex three times a week for a year. Muscular contractions during intercourse work the pelvis, thighs, buttocks, arms, neck and thorax. Sex also boosts production of testosterone, which leads to stronger bones and muscles. Men's Health magazine has gone so far as to call the bed the single greatest piece of exercise equipment ever invented. 
Reduced depression: Such was the implication of a 2002 study of 293 women. American psychologist Gordon Gallup reported that sexually active participants whose male partners did not use condoms were less subject to depression than those whose partners did. One theory of causality: Prostoglandin, a hormone found only in semen, may be absorbed in the female genital tract, thus modulating female hormones. 
Pain-relief: Immediately before orgasm, levels of the hormone oxytocin surge to five times their normal level. This in turn releases endorphins, which alleviate the pain of everything from headache to arthritis to even migraine. In women, sex also prompts production of estrogen, which can reduce the pain of PMS. 
Less-frequent colds and flu: Wilkes University in Pennsylvania says individuals who have sex once or twice a week show 30% higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A, which is known to boost the immune system. 
Better bladder control: Heard of Kegel exercises? You do them, whether you know it or not, every time you stem your flow of urine. The same set of muscles is worked during sex.
Better teeth: Seminal plasma contains zinc, calcium and other minerals shown to retard tooth decay. Since this is a family Web site, we will omit discussion of the mineral delivery system. Suffice it to say that it could be a far richer, more complex and more satisfying experience than squeezing a tube of Crest--even Tartar Control Crest.
A happier prostate? Some urologists believe they see a relationship between infrequency of ejaculation and cancer of the prostate. The causal argument goes like this: To produce seminal fluid, the prostate and the seminal vesicles take such substances from the blood as zinc, citric acid and potassium, then concentrate them up to 600 times. Any carcinogens present in the blood likewise would be concentrated. Rather than have concentrated carcinogens hanging around causing trouble, it's better to evict them. Regular old sex could do the job. But if the flushing of the prostate were your only objective, masturbation might be a better way to go, especially for the non-monogamous male. Having sex with multiple partners can, all by itself, raise a man's risk of cancer by up to 40%. That's because he runs an increased risk of contracting sexual infections. So, if you want the all the purported benefits of flushing with none of the attendant risk, go digital. A study recently published by the British Journal of Urology International asserts that men in their 20s can reduce by a third their chance of getting prostate cancer by ejaculating more than five times a week.

The rhythm of reggaeton has ruled over Latino and Hispanic communities since the early 1990s, and the ruler of reggaeton these days is a worldwide superstar known as Daddy Yankee.

A form of urban music, reggaeton originated in Panama as a blend of West Indian music such as Jamaican reggae and dancehall with the Latin American beat found in salsa, merengue, cumbia and the like. However, reggaeton also combines these potent rhythms with the pulse of hip hop, contemporary R&B and electronica influences, shown in the genre's characteristic rapping or singing in Spanish. With all these influences, however, reggaeton today is closely associated with Puerto Rico, where the music first became popular and where the majority of its current stars have their roots.

Lyrics in reggaeton tend to resemble more hip hop than dancehall, with universal themes that appeal especially to urban youth. Like hip hop and its "gangsta" or "thug life" identity, reggaeton has its share of controversies involving explicit lyrics extolling violence and demeaning women, as well as "wars" between artists, in which the musicians "diss" one another in their songs.

Reggaeton gained mainstream exposure in 2004, when Daddy Yankee's megahit, "Gasolina," from his album "Barrio Fino" flew around the world, drawing in North American, European and Asian audiences. "Barrio Fino" initially sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, making Daddy Yankee the first reggaeton singer to earn a platinum disc. Ultimately, after an international tour that included France, Russia, Poland and most of Latin America, "Barrio Fino" earned its star six platinum discs, signifying global sales of 60 million albums.

Born Raymond Ayala on Feb. 3, 1977 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Daddy Yankee has been the artist most responsible for the globalization of reggaeton. Also known as "El Cangri" (roughly translated as "cool cat" or "sexiest man"), Daddy Yankee today is arguably reggaeton's "Big Boss," another of his nicknames and possibly an homage to rock superstar Bruce Springsteen, whose nickname is "The Boss."

Ayala's stage name, "Daddy Yankee," derives partly form his admiration for hip hop artist Big Daddy Kane, and partly from his love of baseball's New York Yankees. Daddy Yankee rarely performs without his trademark Yankees baseball cap. He planned to be a professional baseball player himself like so many Puerto Rican stars, but a bullet wound in his leg when he was 16 shattered his diamond dreams. Instead Daddy Yankee turned to reggaeton music, a career change that has probably brought him far more success than baseball would have.

From his debut in a 1995 compilation of reggaeton music, Daddy Yankee has risen to the top rank of the global phenomenon that reggaeton has become. Today he is not only a singer, but also a songwriter, actor, producer and composer of film music, broadcaster and businessman. In 2006 he was included in Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in the world. In summer 2009 he was wowing audiences in Ecuador and Argentina, where his concerts resulted in a platinum disc for his latest album, "Talento de Barrio," the soundtrack of his 2008 Paramount Pictures movie of the same name.

Like many a music mogul who worked his way up from poverty to worldwide fame and fortune, Daddy Yankee now uses his wealth and influence to benefit the less fortunate. He created Corazn Guerrero, a foundation dedicated to helping ex-inmates in Puerto Rico to re-enter society. He also has started projects to build schools and youth centers and improve housing for poor people in Colombia, Bolivia and the Dominican Republic.

A number of ADHD medications are hitting the market, joining the old Ritalin standby. Concerta, in its relatively short existence, has already grabbed a sizeable portion of the ADHD medication market share.

Although Concerta offers a number of advantages over the older ADHD medications, it also has several side effects that people with Attention Deficit and parents of Attention Deficit children should be aware of before administering this medication.

Concerta medication for ADHD and ADD is a once-daily treatment and, when introduced, was the first time-release formula. A modified version of Adderall, Adderall XR, followed with a time-released delivery system.

The Concerta capsule has an outer coat of medication that dissolves quickly and then two small compartments of medication inside that release gradually.

The time-released system of the Concerta capsule provides up to 12-hour coverage and provides more even coverage for ADHD symptoms but there are a few drawbacks with the capsule form.

_ If not taken early in the morning, manufacturers recommend skipping the dose for that day since the stimulants will affect normal sleep patterns.

Concerta, along with all other ADHD medications currently on the market, is not recommended for children under the age of six since its safety and effectiveness has not been determined. Despite ADHD drug manufacturer's own labels warning against prescribing these powerful drugs to young children, doctors increasingly prescribe ADD medications to children under the manufacturer recommended age.

Parents should carefully consider the health effects of placing small children on medications for ADD and ADHD, even if the child's health care provider prescribes an medication for ADHD or ADD.

Composition In Wildlife Photography - Simple Tips For Beginners

Composition in wildlife photography can be difficult, especially for a beginner. Not only is it tough to work out just what you want, you are also likely to encounter a subject that just does not want to cooperate.

I can't help you much with an uncooperative subject. Rest assured that with practice and experience, you will find that you become much quicker at composing and exposing a photo so that you get the shot before the critical moment passes. There are a couple of simple tips that can make things a little easier.

First, practice your photography in places where the animals are used to having people around and are less likely to become jittery at your presence. This does not have to be a zoo or other enclosure. Most national parks have campgrounds and picnic grounds where the wildlife is used to being around people, and may even come closer looking for food. You have a much better chance of a shot if you can get close without frightening the subject away.

Second, try to organise your exposure before you set up the shot. If the light is fairly constant, it is possible to point your camera in the right general direction and work out the best aperture and shutter speed settings for the photo. Then when you approach the subject, you can concentrate on composition without having to waste time working out your exposure.

These simple tips may help to take some of the frustration out of wildlife photography, but what about the composition itself? Many people simply don't know where to start. If that sounds like you, don't be discouraged. Like I said at the beginning, composition can be tough; even for experienced professional nature photographers.

Let's start by breaking it down into two categories; close-up and non close-up photos.

In a close-up photo, the subject fills most of the frame. A lot of people get in a tangle over whether to position their subject in the middle or to one side of the composition. In my experience it is quite acceptable to have the subject right in the centre, as long as you allow some head-room so it doesn't appear too cramped within the confines of the composition. A central position is especially suitable when the subject is looking straight at the camera, but often works just as well if the subject is facing a little to one side or the other.

The more space you have around the subject, the more you should consider putting it to one side or the other. In this you should be guided by the way the animal is facing. If it is looking to one side, position it a little towards the other side so it is looking toward the centre of the frame. So, if your wildlife subject is looking right, position it a little to the left. Not too far; you don't want half of your photo to feature nothing but empty space.

In a non close-up photo you have a lot more space around the subject, so it becomes more critical to decide how to use it. In situations where the animal is featured with a lot of background, it may be better to think of the picture as a landscape photograph, and compose it accordingly. Some of the tried-and-true techniques like the Rule Of Thirds (google it if you are not familiar with it) are a good way to help you position your subject within the overall frame of the picture.

For a landscape style photo, it may look quite unbalanced to position your subject in the centre of the picture. It is usually better to position it to one side or the other, and it is now even more important to have the animal facing toward the centre of the picture. The eyes of the subject have the power to guide the viewer to look in the direction the subject is looking. So if the animal is on the left and looking left, the visual flow of the composition will lead out of the picture, instead of into it. If the subject is on the left and looking right, the viewer will follow the gaze of the subject into the centre of the picture.

Naturally it helps if there is something of interest in the centre or to the right to catch the viewer's attention and add interest to the composition. If the subject is looking into the composition, it makes sense that it is looking at something, not just at empty space. Almost anything will do...a tree, a beach, an impressive sky; as long as it adds impact to the composition. If there is nothing of interest to work with, you might consider zooming in closer, so there is less emptiness in the composition.

These simple guidelines are intended to do nothing more than give you some ideas. Nature is not governed by the rules of composition, and a wildlife photographer must be flexible to get the best result out of each situation. Most importantly, trust your own sense of visual balance when arranging a composition. On the other hand, if you are struggling to get started, think back to these guidelines; if you can position your subject well, the rest of the composition will fall into place.

Clara Bow had somewhat of a disheartening beginning to her life having been born to an unhappily married mother who suffered from, the then misunderstood, epileptic fits. Sara Bow, who had previously had her first two babies die prematurely expected the same for her third one. This would not be the case for Clara.

Clara's father, Robert Bow, was a drunken, verbally and physically abusive father and husband who was unable to hold a steady job and was away most of her childhood. The family lived in poverty and Clara's mother Sara was forced into work as a prostitute in order to make money for food, often locking Clara in a closet while she entertained customers in their apartment.

Clara's poor and tattered clothing led the other little girls in her neighborhood to make fun of her. As a result, she decided to make friends with the boys, who immediately took a liking to her "tomboyish" nature.

When she had turned sixteen, in order to escape her troubled life, Clara began modeling for a number of movie magazines. She had often sought personal sanctuary at the movies and after the shows would pose in front of her mirror practicing her favorite actresses gestures and expressions.

This greatly displeased her mother who would often tell Clara that "acting was for whores" and had occasionally come up behind her and threaten to kill her stating "she would be better off dead then an actress in film." Because of this, Clara did not disclose to her mother her plans to enter a modeling contest for a chance at the cover shot on a 1921 publication of Motion Picture Magazine.

Clara submitted two photographs for the contest and the judges were impressed by how attractively she photographed. She was offered a number of follow-up screen tests which showcased her natural acting ability leading to Clara ultimately winning the contest.

Her first role was in the film Beyond the Rainbow (1922), but her scenes ended up on the cutting room floor leaving Clara feeling completely devastated.

It was at this time her mother began having more serious seizures as a result of her medical problems, and one night she threatened Clara at knife point until falling to the floor from a particularly horrible seizure. This experience would give Clara insomnia and feelings of insecurity for the rest of her life.

In spite of how dreadful life was on the home front for Clara, her career in films started to really take off after being seen on the cover of Motion Picture Magazine. She was given a small part in the film Down to the Sea in Ships (1922) and even though ripped by the critics she caught the eye of producer B. P. Schulberg of Preferred Pictures (soon to become Paramount Pictures), and was off to Hollywood. It didn't take long for audiences to begin a love affair with the soon to be "It Girl."

Her magical on screen presence as the first illustrious "flapper" of the roaring twenties had women across America walking, talking, dancing, and dressing like Clara Bow.

She would go on to make many more successful silent films, including Mantrap (1926), Dance Madness (1926), Get Your Man (1927), Hula (1927), Wings (1927), Rough House Rosie (1927), Children of Divorce (1927), and the legendary It (1927).

Clara Bow died in Los Angeles of a heart attack in 1965, but her legacy in films still lives on to this day, and her contribution to the silent film era has put her name at the top of the list when discussing the most popular and influential stars of the 1920's.

Cinema therapy is a modern therapy technique where therapists use the films as a tool in therapy. Some therapists think that cinema therapy can have a positive influence on clients suffering from a wide variety of psychiatric disorders including anxiety disorders like PTSD and OCD, depression, addiction, eating disorders and even relationship issues.

Metaphors from a film are often used in cinema therapy. For example, in cognitive behavior therapy, a film might help by playing an important role in helping the client to understand the maladaptive thinking and beliefs as well as to reconstruct the cognition.

Cinema therapy can also be instructive to clients as they gain insights that can be motivating. Often, a character in a film behaves in a way that displays courage in the face of a particular challenge. In this manner, the client can model the behavior from the film which in turn can make therapy more effective.

Many therapists use cinema therapy as a supporting tool for their therapeutic approach. Movies can be psycho-educational as they present unfamiliar concepts of family and organizational systems. When we use more than one type of intelligence, we actually learn faster. Watching movies can affect seven types of intelligence which are the following:

linguistic (dialogue)

musical (sounds and music)
visual-spatial (pictures, colors, symbols)

Therapists have long known that films have powerful effect on our psyche. However, some movies may be too traumatic for some people. Because of this, there are guidelines for choosing a film for cinema therapy. First of all, it is important to choose a film that reflects the clients present situation. Movies chosen for cinema therapy should be contain the therapeutic context such as anxiety, marriage problems, or depression.

The therapists experience using cinema therapy may be limited. In this case, the therapist may simply begin by talking about how a particular scene or character in a movie made the client feel. A more experienced cinema therapist might take more of a psychoanalytical approach and actually use psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches in conjunction with discussing a film.

Therapists often give clients some guidelines for watching a film for cinema therapy. Such guidelines usually include asking the client to get as comfortable as possible and to reduce the amount of distractions and interruptions while watching the film. Just about the most common cichlid disease is Hole in the head disease. Hexamita, usually results in rapid weight loss and a major loss of appetite, and you will also notice little indentations on and around the head area.

Yet another really frequent cichlid illness is actually Ich or Ichtyophthirius. With this particular ailment whitened crystal marks show up on the head first, and then propagate over the entire body. Inhaling and exhaling is fast, the fish scrapes a great deal, and also the eye balls and fins all become cloudy.

Cichlids can also suffer from constipation which will cause a swelling of the stomach, loss of appetite, and erratic swimming. They may have feces trailing behind them. The best way to fix this is to starve them for two days then start them on a different diet.

On the subject of diet if you over feed your fish they may end up with Swim Bladder disease which will cause difficulty in swimming, swimming upside down, floating. These symptoms also can mean Flip over disease.

One popular way of dealing with diseases is salt treatment, but this should ideally only be done in a quarantine tank as other fish may be negatively affected. Plus it will not guarantee a cure for all diseases.

Now because an aquarium is such a small closed environment, without proper monitoring and treatment can become a disease incubator. Regular cleaning of your tank and water will be your best weapon against disease in your aquarium.
